Knock Knock…

Things aren’t always as they look!

Since I started on this quest to find effective, quality, reasonably priced esthetic equipment, I have definitely learned a thing or two along the way. I spend much of my time explaining to my fellow Estys that they truly need to look at more than just the price when thinking about purchasing a piece of equipment. Nowadays you can find almost every piece of equipment somewhere on the internet for extremely cheap.  This is fabulous if you feel that you don’t need any training or support and if you don’t mind the hassle if something goes wrong with the unit. But, if you want to be able to actually speak with a person, get instructions that you can understand and receive help with promoting your new equipment, you may want to be a little more discerning about whom you purchase your equipment from.  I’ve spoken with Estys that have gone that route, thinking they were saving a few bucks and then called me once it arrived, very upset because it wasn’t what they thought it would be.

Here’s the thing….these companies can make the machines look the same but they don’t know how to make the inner workings. So the picture on the webpage you are about to order from looks great, but when you get it… may be sorely disappointed.

I’ve gotten more involved with products lately as well as equipment and interestingly enough, there is so much counterfeiting with product as well. I recently connected with Baby Foot and had a long discussion with them about this issue. It’s become a big problem for their company.

If you find a skincare product online for much cheaper, you have no idea if it’s been sitting in a warehouse for a couple of years and is expired or if it’s even the real thing. Again, people can make the packaging look the same but what’s inside is not the real product.

I spend a lot of time exploring and purchasing equipment. I check them out for quality and effectiveness before putting them up on my website. I get emails and posts on my Facebook page quite often stating that a particular piece of equipment or product can be purchased anywhere. Buyer beware please! I do my best to make sure I am purchasing from the original developer.

When a piece of equipment passes my test, I put together training videos and paperwork, like consent forms, protocols and flyers for marketing. I even start taking calls at 7am so you can get ahold of me when you have a burning question that needs to be answered right away. So, when I get that email or phone call from someone complaining to me that they found one of the tools I promote on the internet for cheaper…I say “fabulous, go for it. But please do not reach out to me for help, you’re on your own”.

I looked up Knock Off and here’s the desciption: Knockoff products are those that copy or imitate the physical appearance of other products but which do not copy the brand name or logo of a trademark. They may still be illegal under trademark laws if they confuse consumers. Counterfeiters can include producers, distributors or retail sellers.

I have great passion for this industry and for helping others succeed and because of my 32 years in the industry I feel like I’m a pretty qualified mentor. I’ve probably been there and done that with most anything you’re dealing with. Any of you who already know me, know that I love being there to help, so give me a call….let’s chat!!
